Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) Requirements

Mandated Authorities: The RCM regulations are enforced by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE).

Scope of Compliance: To launch electronic products in Australia and New Zealand, compliance with RCM regulations is essential. This includes mandatory adherence to EMI, Safety, Telecom, Radio, RF exposure, and Energy Efficiency requirements for all electrical and electronic products.

Labeling: All compliant products must be appropriately labeled with the RCM mark.

Additional Considerations for Australian and New Zealand Certification

Testing and Compliance: Testing can be conducted at accredited laboratories both within and outside Australia and New Zealand. Manufacturers are required to declare their product’s compliance and maintain a compliance folder for future audits. Certain Telecom and Radio products may necessitate additional tests.

Australian Electrical Safety Certificate (SAA): Prescribed products are subject to obtaining the Australian Electrical Safety Certificate (SAA) in addition to RCM certification.

Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS): Some products are also required to comply with MEPS and be appropriately labeled to meet the Minimum Energy Performance Standards.

Local Representative: A local representative is mandatory for Australia and New Zealand to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
