The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) in Taiwan regulates the certification process through various methods:

  • Registration for Product Certification: Products must undergo a registration process to obtain certification.
  • Declaration of Conformity (DoC): Manufacturers are required to provide a DoC, stating that their products comply with the relevant standards and regulations.
  • Batch-by-Batch Inspection (BBI): BBI may be conducted to ensure ongoing compliance of certified products.
  • Authorization to Real Importer: Certification requires authorization to the actual importer of the products.
  • Certificate Validity and Labeling: Certificates issued by BSMI have a validity period of 3 years (PRC, BBI), and labeling is mandatory for certified products.
