Govt of India has given the extension of implementation of Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Amendment Rule 2022. The rule has been extended by two months and now shall come into the force from 1st April 2023.
The latest amendments in Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities Rule 2022 are as following:
i)Garments and Hosiery products are exempted from the scope. So that customer can check the quality of the goods before purchasing.
ii)The rule amended the guidelines for the declaration of manufacturing date, MRP and quantity on goods.
iii)Applicant need to submit a declaration as per the amended packaged commodities rule 2022. The intent of declaration is to mention the unit sale price of the product meant for retail for easier comparison at the time of purchase.
