Adoption of ANSI C63.10-2020 and C63.25.1-2018

The following standards will be adopted by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED):

American National Standard of Procedures for Compliance Testing of Unlicensed Wireless Devices (ANSI C63.10-2020), as amended by ANSI C63.10-2020/Cor 1-2023.

American National Standard, Validation Techniques for Radiated Emission Test Sites, 1 GHz to 18 GHz- ANSI C63.25.1-2018.

Although ANSI C63.10-2013 will be replaced by ANSI C63.10-2020+Cor.1-2023, there will be a two-year transition period during which any version may be used to show compliance with ISED criteria.

After the transition time is over, ANSI C63.10-2020+Cor.1-2023 must be used for new certifications.

The major important improvements made by ANSI C63.10-2020+Cor.1-2023 are as follows:

Additions to the distance/size requirements include dimension tolerances.

Added LISN (Line Impedance Stabilization Network) phase requirements.

Removed references to the rod antenna since regulatory bodies would not approve it.

ANSI C63.25.1 is cited for site validation between 1 and 18 GHz.

Additional test methodologies for radio apparatus-classified wireless power transfer devices

The ANSI C63.25.1-2018 standard contains the current site voltage standing wave ratio (SVSWR) approach while also introducing the alternative time-domain (TD) method of site validation, so there won’t be a transition period.
