UAE Update : The TDRA has broadened the obligatory examinations for mobile phones to encompass advanced mobile location (AML) testing

The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has announced modifications to the technical criteria for mobile phones available in the local market. 

The changes may include: 

  • Enhanced Emergency Response Features
  • Pre-loaded UAE Emergency Nos.
  • TDRA approval Requirements
  • Testing for Essential Functionalities
  • Mandatory standards compliance

Adherence to particular regulations established by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is obligatory for all mobile phones distributed in the UAE. 

Effective March 2024, all mobile devices imported into the UAE must conform to the designated Technical Specifications.
