Saudi CST issues maritime frequency spectrum rules

The Saudi Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) has established marine frequency spectrum rules.

It seeks to govern the use of marine radio services, improve spectrum efficiency by organising channels for these services, and promote international harmonisation to safeguard these services from unwanted interference.

The marine radio services are critical to the marine industry in terms of communications, navigation, distress, and safety.

On September 3, 2023, the Regulations came into force.
