China CQC (China Quality Certification Centre) has issued a notice on February 27th 2023 that GB 31241-2022 for Safety Technical Specifications will replace the current GB 31241-2014 standard for Lithium-ion Batteries and Battery Packs for Portable Electronic Products
The new standard GB 31241-2022 will be effective from 01st January 2024, lithium-ion cells and batteries may be covered by CCC certification, battery registration for China. Manufacturers are allowed to obtain the certificate as per the old standards up to 31st of December 2023 as per their requirements. It si mandatory to follow the new standards from 1st January 2024.
