Restriction of Laptops/Tablets, All-in one Personal Computers under HSN 8471 of Import Policy

Import policy terms has been amended for items under HSN 8471 of Chapter 84 Import Policy of ITC as per the recent released notification dated 3^rd Aug 2023.

Import of Laptops/Tablets, All-in one Personal  Computers and few other products under HSN 8741 requires Import License as these devices are now classified as “Restricted” and will require valid license to import.

Exemption of import license for the following:

• For imports under baggage rules
• Online buying (duty fee applicable)
• Imports for R&D, Testing, Repair and re-export, product development purpose
• Goods repaired abroad and returned back (for restricted items)
• Restricted items which is a part of any Machinery/Equipments classified under capital goods.

Import License for restricted items will be applicable from 1^st of November 2023. Devices under restricted items can be imported without obtaining import license Up to 31^st of October 2023
